I assume due to the longevity of the forum that this idea has come up many times.

However just as some fun why dont we have a subforum just for wee challenges such as lighting a feather stick with a ferro rod ( i know this is simple) as it would be a good learning tool and some fun.

Nothing serious though, i think the majority of the community can be trusted to say they managed it or not.

As i say it's probably been mentioned before but i can't find it in search.

Just for learning and fun though, nothing serious( if the idea does work and it gets serious i don't wan't any part in it) would be fun though.

As i say somoene has probably asked before but i can't see why it''s not a fun idea provided its within reason.

There's been a few things along those lines, the five items or less challenge is one that comes to mind.

I think it's a cracking idea if we got a series of them, the best way would be to think of something and then just post up a thread about it, e.g

BCUK Challenge 1 - Featherstick and Ferro Rod

Not sure how it would pan out mind

sounds a good idea to me, anything that gives me a gentle reminder to go out and practice skills, either old ones or new ones is always a good idea, and it will help out anyone who is struggling with that challenge by being able to discuss the best ways to achieve their goals.

Yeah the 15 and 5 items or less was great and i took part but never had camera so didn't post was fun but not fully inclusive.

Thats why i mention simple skills that are able to be achieved with a spare hour or two so that everyone can try and have fun with and learn a worthwhile bushcraft skill.

I realise that pics etc are not available to everyone and i would prefer no prizes given and no pictures needed etc.

I say challenge but i don't wan't it to be thought of as that, more of as a " heres something thats fun, give it a go kind of thing"

Not to put down the minimalis challenge as i loved it but it isn't fully inclusive.

BCUSA have a great thing call Bushclass http://bushcraftusa.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=132 (hope they dont mind linking it)

Its really organised and really good. Basically each class has a how to and then the member go off and do the same or their version around the subject and post the results.
Yup - that is fun!
I have just completed all the tasks and am now doing the "outings" :D

As next years Moot is over the Olympics we are considering a Bushcraft Olympics theme.

So if you are coming to the Moot next year this would be good for bringing your skills up or for getting ideas for some competitions at the Moot.

I hope to run events such as archery, atlatl and bowdrill. Be good to get some ideas.
