Needed a small bark spud for a project i working on, so figured half the fun is making stuff yourself to suit a specific task, so made this small spud up out of a cheap SDS bit from eBay, the handle is a length of curtain rail offcut, works a treat.

Very well made. And it works on tight bark at this time of year? Local prices here run $70 - $100.00 with handles. 44-64 BPS
Ingenious bit of improvising! As you say, half the fun is making something for a specific task, and you end up with something unique.
I did think about using a bolster chisel, but figured the length of the SDS bit would be better over the shorter bolster, as i could bury more of it in the handle for additional strength.
