Cooking up another batch of charcloth this afternoon, this time from some old bath towel. 100% cotton, if a bit grubby and lightly oil stained from doing time in the garage/workshop but was a good way cooked when this happened:

It had already been on the go for about 10 mins, with plenty of flame and gas venting, so just why it felt the to need to blow off like that I've no idea.
No big deal either really, I just picked the tin off the fire, found the lid, replaced it securely and put the tin back on to finish cooking.
Just for reference, I always wear a pair of safety glasses when faffing on like this. I've never had any trouble with the tins, just bits shooting out of the fire when burning coniferous wood!
