Howdy folks!
I like baldrics for knives, as I've said a few times, and figured I'd make some; no paracord, sadly. So I used the next best thing - Bootlaces! I always carry laces with me when out walking, as my combat boots seem remarkably good at shredding them, so I figured it was a novel double-use. I'll probably replace it with Paracord before long, I just need to find some in brown and wait til I have money to spare.
I'm not sure why, but I thought a baldric would be good for a the Old Hickory knife. It seems a bit more practical for kitchen tasks and the like. That one is made from two boot laces, and the sheath does have a belt loop as well so I wouldn't be stuck if I needed to take the laces off.
The Enzo one is a very high-riding baldric as you can see, more of a shoulder holster sorta deal. I initially tried this idea a couple years ago because I wanted a neck knife but I didn't like the threat of me falling and it catching on something - I figured that if my arm was through it as well, I could at least stop it strangling me for long enough that I could cut the cord. It also keeps it nicely out of the way, so it doesn't bother me when sitting down, nor does it make it awkward to draw. This only used one boot lace, but the other one is holding the pouch for my Opinel no 5 I made last week out of a belt
The belt already had stich-marks along the edge, so it was just the wonderfully simple job of punching holes and sewing, no spacing required. Perfect width too!
For the record, the knot tying the two laces together on the skinner sheath is an alpine butterfly bend IIRC, and the knots tying the loose ends together to make it adjustable is a double fishermans knot, both learned yesterday
