off grid somewhere else
We went over to our local town today my partner Fi went to buy lard to make our pine tar soap and I went to get a bacon batch, whilst talking to the man we got on the subject of foraging to which he said you should have a word with the stall holder opposite,so I approached the owner I told her what we did and she replied that they had been looking for someone to run their foraging school/bushcraft and fungi so we are going to meet them in a fortnight to finalize things and have a look over the land, they have all the usual facilities including a outdoor kitchen/prep area built on a high platform over looking the coast,so will be keeping you updated on several fronts.

Nice one woodstock - you and Fi deserve it.

It always surprises me how luck favours those who work hard ;)

Nice one!

Any particular reason you use lard for the soap? I often use the solid vegetable oil sold for cooking.
I dont use lard. I make sodium tallowate from beef fat. Woodstock doesnt pay attention in my chemistry classes. grade beef fat is cleaner than industrial tallow. The only veg fat that makes hard long lasting soap is palm oil. There is another member called bod he lives in south east asia and has a great interest in endangered tribes in the region. If he says there is no such thing as sustainable palm oil, I will take it as gospel. If I could make it veggie and it would not turn to mush I would.
