I don't know which exact manufacturer made this one, so I can't speak to quality, but the design is horrible if you actually want to carry anything over distance. I had one of virtually the same design, and it had very poor load bearing characteristics. The weight is held too far back, and the frame is too short. The result is inadequate weight transfer to the hips.

I suppose the attraction is the demountable pockets/pouches but it really doesn't look like any kind of long-term friend on the trail

It's ok, in pitch dark it looks black. Added feature.
