I is surprisingly difficult to catch them in the coasting phase of flight.

Saw a pair of blue jays and a pair of cardinals in a bare tree yesterday, in full, radiant shagging plumage. Gone before I could take a pic, but burned into my memory in a Singing Ringing Tree kind of way.
