Axe recommendations

My partner has been looking at whittling spoons but wants to get an axe to split the wood that he's going to use. He's found some for £100 ish, but is there cheaper ones out that, that are still good?

The hultfors axes are a good brand at very reasonable prices

Their chopping axe is very similar spec to the gransfors bruk small forest axe but nearly a third of the price
