What I have seen of damascus blades is that they're like seaside rock with the pattern running all the way through.

When its sharpened though, the pattern will not be visible until a few days/weeks after... this can be accelerated with some lemon to bring it out.

Stunning knife by the way... that's VERY nice.

So the pattern stays there even after sharpening?

I have always loved Damascus to look at but I have never had a working knife with a Damascus blade.
