Aster flower?

As with the previous post about Marsh Mallow thriving in the wrong environment this is another strange one as it's living right on the tidal edge of the Hamble river so get's it's roots wet every high tide.
Searching around it seems to be an aster possibly flat top? It's around 1mtr in height but the confusing part is that the aster preferred well drained soil from what I have read?

Yup. Should have slightly purple-tinged petals. Sea Aster.

Thanks, was just about to post the ones I saw tonight were more purple, so I was on the right lines but not quite there.

A mate of mine says they are good. The best thing about saltmarsh plants in the UK is that there are no poisonous ones.

Careful, there is hemlock water dropwort on the salt marsh at Clevedon in Somerset.

I meant plants specific to saltmarsh. I should have been clearer. Yes, on this side too. And Giant Hogweed.

Have loads of dropwort on the Hamble as well and grows right next to this.
