Ash tree

I've got an ash tree in the garden, with a dead branch about 12ft long, pretty straight, and tapering from about 12 inches to 4 inches in diameter.

It would be a shame just to chop it down for firewood, has anyone got any use for it?

Thx for the ideas. I know that ash is a pretty hard wood, and I presume that as that branch is dead, the wood is going to be dried out.

Is this going to make working with it pretty difficult.

My friend has a huge lathe, and has offered to make me a few bowls, but I'm sure something more imaginative could be made.

Traditionlly ash is used for tent pegs, so if you have then need you could try that,

I 2nd the bow.
I have a lovely D shaped ash bow made by Bardster.
Its also really good for making handles fo axes etc
I recomend you cut a few lenghts to suit and sit on them for a while till you decide what to make.

Nothing better really if you use a woven seat. I recently made a nice little stool out of ash although like you said it would be pretty hard to work now its dry and mortise and tenon joints wouldn't hold without glue. Anyway it sounds like you have enough wood to try all the projects suggested!
