HI,

The wife and I found these on a couple of tree's in the new forest whilst walking. They are all quite similar, but on oak and birch tree's. I think it's a kind of spider's egg, but I've never seen one this large before!!

It doesn't have a common name and at the moment I can't recall what the Latin name is

It will eventually go brown and turn powdery.

I#ll post the name when I can remember it

Slime moulds are wierd, truly wierd. They are like the gap between fungi and animals. They were classfied as a differant kingdom for while. I was told that they are a commune of uni-cellular organisms that group together at certain stages of the their lifecycle to form one big organism that then spores . The serious freaky thing is that they can move.
