Anybody make Hand drills

Hi folks,

I was just wondering if anybody makes hand-drills for friction fire lighting. I would like to have a go but my local woods only has Birch, Hazel and pine and according to the many Youtube video`s I have watched none of those woods are suitable for the task.

I am wondering if anybody on this forum makes them and maybe I could purchase one from that person or maybe you know of somewhere on-line where I could purchase one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you got any any elder near you? If so then you can use that, second year growth is best.

Have a look at this thread, lot of good advise about woods and techniques in it.
