Any bushcrafters been to INDIA?

Hi there,
my friend is going to India this summer. He is very keen on seeing jungle and more of nature than anything else. Is there anyone that has been to India and could give a few tips of places to see or to pages/books to look at? Maybe there is someone living/traveling there at the moment and could share their experience about India??

Well from what i understand it should be eastern and northern parts of India, he will be traveling quite a bit. I don't know the names of regions but I'll as him.

I spent about 6 months over there about 14 years ago, I was 23 years old at the time and wanted to see a bit of the world,
I spent 5 nights out in the dessert when I was there somewhere near a place called something like jaisalmer that was great but my favourite place of all was the mountains the Himalaya is the most amazing place I have been to.
I can remember landing in Delhi and thinking O God what am I doing here, but after a little push I got myself an over night bus ticket into the mountains, when I woke up on the bus I was greeted by the most stunning scenery. You realise how small we all are when you in those mountains its great. I have since visited mountains all over the world but for me none of them come close to the Himalaya

I had a month there over Easter (2nd time) in the south in Kerala. It was fantastic. There is some amazing terrain there to go out and walk in. I've also had a month up in the north with mixed results: Delhi was a dump, Rajastan was nice though. Get a Lonely Planet or a Rough Guide and you'll be fine. Train travel is a great way to get around and overall the people are great. In certain places people will stop and stare at you but overall it's a great place.
