Atlatlman, that's a lovely set. What's the line made of?
Also, may be a silly question, but what is the rock for?

Thanks for sharing,

Ste

Like Man of Tanith said, the stone is a weight. I found it years ago when I was walking along the river Orwell. The stone looks to me as though it had been drilled out. I did wonder if it was a primitive net weight. The line is artificial sinew. I'm still waiting for the nettles in my garden to grow a bit higher before making some nettle cordage. One of the fishing floats has a hazel nut glued on top with hide glue.

Very nice kit.

Tip: When you need to do small stuff like needles and gorges, it's very handy to glue them to a larger stick with a bit of pitch glue. The big stick makes for a great handle so you can apply a lot of force and sand/scrape the small stock down as thin as you want. If you need to turn the needle or gorge, simply warm up the pitch glue. When all's said and done, it's easy to clean up the finished piece.

Thanks for the tip Vaughn.
