Ordered an item 4 days ago from amazon, it was despatched from edinburgh amazon straight away, this is where it gets good, i only live just over 40 miles away from edinburgh, but for some reason they next sent it to a branch in the west midlands and held it for 2 days before sending it back up to scotland, not very green of them is it. Think i will vote with my feet and take my business elsewhere to a more personal company. anyone else had this from amazon and yodel.

Well its now in their Bellshill hub about 30 miles from where it started although it must have done at least 500 miles by now, if i operated my business like that i would soon be skint. it makes you think that a business can get so big that it doesnt even know what its doing anymore. i sent an email about it to them and all i got was a computer generated reply about the delivery schedule nothing about sending it hundreds of miles away first.

What was the delivery estimate on it? if it was late then fair enough, but if not then it wasn't sent by itself it was on a trunk run with hundreds of other parcels and packages which wont add to the carbon out put of the company or increase the cost to anyone.

Do you not remember the hassle I had with that tent that Yodel delivered to my neighbour, put an address that didn't exist on the card to where it had been delivered and also didn't put the consignment number on the card so when I phoned up all I got was a loop of automated answering machines telling me I couldn't proceed with my consignment number which I didn't have.

The delivery driver actually came to my door the next day to apoliogise, lucky I wasn't in :grr:

I will try and be kind and say they must be having a few teething troubles. I take it amazon have only started using this yodel as i have used amazon for years with no trouble and to be honest i havent even heard of yodel.

Its definitely hit and miss, in Aldershot I had three parcels delivered to wrong address in our street, yet here I've had 7 deliveries with no issues at all, though the postie seemed to forget that a door bell is often use full for getting attention where as leaving parcels on the doorstep without any kind of note through the door or attempt to see if any ones in, only gets an earful,

Have a look on google for Yodel & Amazon and you will see what a mess they are.
They delivered a package for me to a neighbour a few houses away very confusing as there are only a handful of houses where I live and they are all numbered.

So many different issues with them.

just googled yodel and i cant find one good review but hundreds of awful ones, really surprised a company such a amazon use them but lots of other big companies seem to use them too, they must be dirt cheap for them to use them. i think i may phone first before buying on the internet in the future to find out who the delivery company is.

Oh do not get me started on Yodel!!!! too late.... When delivering amazon packages they have always just dumped them at my back door - hundreds of pounds of textbooks just a side gate away from anyone who wanted them to flog on evilbay! To be fair at least I have got them all. When delivering my router, orange gave them strict instructions not to leave them at the back door, and despite reorganising delivery for days off/days between night shifts and waiting in/up all day, they didnt deliver them - took me over a month to get something that was meant to be next day delivery! (they ended up sending it back after 3 failed attempts, had to phone orange several times before their computers cought up with this). The main issues is a 9 to 5 delivery pattern (Ok they say, 7, but are never that early, plus I leave for work shortly after) meaning only those who dont work a normal job can be in to collect - absolute ballache! At least with royal mail I can nip into town to the post office to collect, for Yodel I'd have a 40minute drive to their nearest depot.

:banghead: :soapbox: :banghead:

Apologies, rant over

well went to walk the dogs tonight and would you believe it, on my neighbours doorstep, whos on holiday is a large box from amazon. So first of all they take it all the way to England then back up to Scotland and finally just dump it at the wrong address with no signature for anyone to pick up, ive a good mind to phone them up and say that i didnt receive the package as i didnt sign for anything, damn if only i was more dishonest i would be £40 for the better haha....

Tell Amazon about it. They can only ditch the useless delivery companies IF they are told about it.

I did as did many other people, it even got investigated by the BBC and nothing has changed, see this thread i started last November on the issues with Yodel http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=82632&highlight=yodel

If i buy anything from Amazon these days, rare because of Yodel, if it's dvd's' cd's or books and say im ordering four items, i'll place four orders that way it comes via the Royal Mail, who around these parts are faultless.

I have had lots of grief with them, mostly to do with them not being bothered to write the parcel number on the card, that their IT systems can NOT deal with... :(. It gets dumped by your door, if you are lucky and often gets lost. Most delivery companies are C**P but Yodel are setting new standards for the industry. Trouble is, you often do not get any choice.
