No, I think they're struggling with availability at the moment and only dribs and drabs through.

I think they have a better plan in the pipeline though

Probably overkill but I ordered a SkyHigh 1000 today!? After lugging around army bags normally I'll still be saving space and weight and as I sleep cold I thought I'd go big...I seem to be turning into a lightweight thesedays and wanted to ensure a toasty night's sleep. Is it overkill? I'm curious if I went over the top with this.

I go for a lighter sleeping bag and use a down pullover for extra warm when you need it, also gives you something to wear during the cold nights, but only weighs 230g and scrunches down to the size of an apple, you can also get down sock which only weigh about 90g for the pair, they are really toastie when you have a wee chill and cant get your feet warm. I use the phd stuff, no connection etc

Makes sense, I've done similar in the past but as I'll never go ultralightweight I should still notice the weight and space reduction of the 1000. I spend more time outdoors in the winter than I do the summer so I wanted something super cozy. It seems the older I get the softer I get and I don't mean needing viagra

Your not getting softer mate, just wiser. In winter when i feel like a bit of luxury, i use my North Face Inferno Endurance sleeping bag rated to -40 degrees, i have never had a problem with it, except having to get out of it in the morning.

That's exactly what I'm aiming for! A night's sleep I look forward to. I have synthetic bags that started off fine but seem to get worse the longer I have them so I figured it was time to go back to down. Was going to get a Mountain Equipment one but after hearing nothing but praise for Alpkit I decided to try them and save a bundle in the process.

So what the SkyeHigh 1000 like??

That's what I want to know too! I can let you know my first impressions on Tuesday when it turns up, you'll have to wait until next November for a proper review from me though.

I sleep hot, and have found the 600 perfect, keeps me nice and snug. Well made, nice liner.

I'll look forward to your review, as I plan a 1000 purchase towards the end of the year.

Atb and enjoy, al.

Just recieved my Skyehigh 1000, first impressions are good. It looks well made and lofts up nice with a shake and 5 minutes airing. Obviously I can't say a lot until it gets cold next winter but first impressions are good. Only catch was I ordered a right hand zip to go with my bivvi bag and had a notification saying they didn't have right hand zip, would left be ok? Last one in stock so I grabbed it, I'll now have to source a new bivvi bag before winter. Them's the breaks innit! Happy days, I hope this is the bag for me and I'm onto a winner here...

Scotland, looking at mountains
My new Pipedream 600 arrived today. I already have the original Sky-High 800 XL model (the original higher spec) for comparison. On the new bag the fill feels very dense (so much so that I thought it was synthetic when I first opened it) and high quality. Size is just OK for me at 6-2, cosy on the shoulders, but will be fine for those family members I bought it for. The covering and lining material is not as nice as the original Pertex on my existing bag - it's a bit like lying in a crisp packet. The bag is very light in comparison to my old one. It comes with the usual excellent lofting bag and compression sack, although I always have mine in a smal Exped dry bag when out. All in all an excellent addition

Got my skye high 600 today! very impressed with it. Lay in it on the couch for 5 minutes and had to get out as it was roasting. I sleep hot so I think it will be suitable for pretty much all year round use for me. Not that I have any intention of camping in the snow but I have gone out in fine weather and woke up with my tent drifted over in the past.

The 600 has done me fine to -8, although I was in a bivi to be fair with a silk liner... It was toasty warm though so no doubt could handle more with the same set-up.

Did alpkit use to to do the pipedreams in long? I thought I seen an option when I first started looking for a bag?

al.

I had to dig this thread up as I originally got a left hand zip on my bag when I wanted a right and had a moan about it in this thread. I had an email saying there were more in stock on Monday, I rang up and spoke to Jay and he told me as I hadn't used my bag I could send it in for an exchange no worries. I sent it in on Tuesday and this morning I recieved a replacement with a right handed zip! Happy days, top service from Alpkit!!! Thanks Jay for putting one aside for me and the quick turn around...
