I have one of the belt sanders, very handy.
Not the most powerful you can buy but good for the money. They also sell the belts pretty cheap but only buy the rough grade ones. The lighter ones are useless and chatter no end due to a poor join. Much better off buying quality ones for the finishing grades.
I dont know If you could use a mop type wheel as the disc kind of acts like a fly-wheel as the motor isnt the most powerful. I also tried to flatten the belt bed to make it easier to use but this was not possible either. They are cheap....
I swapped the grinding wheel on mine for a polishing mop. It works fine but the motor gets very hot if you're using the belt for any length of time. Machine Mart do one that looks identical and I think it is twice the money.
It is carp, don't be misled, but still better than no belt sander!
