An older friend of mine has recently progressed with his on-going clear-out by presenting me with a bunch of his model painting gear. Iwata mini air compressor, Iwata airbrush, a fold flat spray booth with suction and a turn table, three plastic boxes full of paints, cleaners and solvents and some other bits and pieces. I myself want to buy a small air compressor to run mist coolant on my grinder, but it will need to be bigger than this one. My friend has said I can have them if I can use them, or I can sell them on.

I don't really know what one can do with an airbrush, other than paint little models and funky artwork. I also don't know whether it would be better to try to sell the whole lot as a kit, or piecemeal. I have briefly looked and Iwata compressors and brushes look expensive when new. How do these things hold value? Presumably one cannot now mail paint and solvents as a private individual, so would have to find someone willing to collect the stuff at a corresponding steep discount.

Anyone able to share any advice or broaden my knowledge?

Cheers

Chris

Have a look at some of the radio controlled modeller sites. They use the airbrushes a lot.
Probably find someone there happy to buy the lot.
The radio modeller sites, the model car racing sites, and some of the robotics ones, perhaps ?

Bit too big for most railway modellers.

I have one, it's thirty years old and it's still sound. Pretty simple really, if you keep them properly cleaned out.

I have an airbrush for some of the leather work .
you can create some nice sunburst effects with them.
Although i think mine is a £20 job from an online site... and seen better days.

How much you looking for Chris?

As a model make I can tell you the Iwata airbrush has a resonable second hand price not sure about the air compressor as you don't see many of them pop up. Sounds like you have a great head start in model making if you wanted to start, the hobby has come a long way since I started back in the early 90's.
