I've just found this very interesting book. First published in 1905. The first three chapters give an interesting description of nature reclaiming the land, after an unspecified EOTW incident. Terrific 19th century post-apocalyptic novel. Interesting to read his Bevis afterwards for comparison. Richard jefferies wrote lots of other naturalist books that are worth reading. Used to help maintain his museum in Swindon in the 60s.

My (battered) copy of After London is dated 1885 but published by Cassell & Company Limted. Belle Sauvage Yard London EC1. Weren't Dents secondary publishers?

I would assume so with a 1905 date, but publishing and printing info were scarce on books back then. Thanks for the museum link.
