I saw two blackbirds doing that once, they were so engrossed in their fight I wondered if theyd see me. I walked right up and touched the back of one of them before they realized I was there and flew off.

my first lession about the harshness of nature, was when i read about the shrike, what a little cutey.

Great photos, and visual proof of nasty nature. Of course there is proof all around us, all of the time, but we don't understand most of it. Bird 'song' as we like to think of it, is mostly "Gittt oorrffff myy laannd!" and the likes Plants doing battle for ground and light, birds and mammals fighting over food and mating rights... It's a tough old world out there.
