Advice Needed?

Once again I'm delving in to the wealth of collective knowledge in this forum.

I have 58 Poncho that needs a bit of TLC.

I'm after advice about 2 things, first there is a small 1" x 1" right angle tear that I need to repair, and was planning on stitching it, but what do I use to then seal it?

and secondly it needs reproofing, and I'm after advice on what to use for this? I have some Graingers hard and soft shell spray, but this requires you to then put the poncho in the tumble dryer in order to activate the proofing agent. In my house the Tumble Dryer is "out of bounds" to me, by order of the boss (Mrs D_P_M).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Stitching then use seam seal (for tents) should solve the first problem.

The second problem's more tricky. Use the tumble drier when she's out? Or take 50p down the laundrette!
