So how is the grill attached to the rod in the block? Is it screwed tight or can it still rotate? Is it friction when the rod/hole is angled slightly?

Looking at the link and zooming onto the block I can see now - it's just friction as I thought. If a block could be made with the right sized hole it could be adapted to suit anything as needed and make it up your elf. I think the block is the key.

You guys are great. Its been bugging me not knowing what make it is.
Just dug mine out of my pack. The grill and handle is stainless steel.the block and leg is alloy.

Stew. The block has a U shaped cut out on either side of the block, opposite each other. the weight of the grill holds it in place. The block slides along the handle to extend the grill over the fire.

As Fenrir says it is a great bit of kit.
