The survey I ran in a previous post and I now have the results of the 100 responses I had. It's going to take me a little while to process the data fully, but for now here are my first comments:

- The person who was rescued by the Phillopino navy, if I buy you a pint will you tell me the story?
- The person who had the 7cm impalement to the crotch - I hope you're OK now. I winced on reading that
- Consumer Off The Shelf (COTS) kits appear to be seen as wholly inadequate by all bar 12.24% of you
- Blood stains a nicely carved wooden spoon
- The variety of training that many of you have is really interesting. Lot of combat medics out there.
- More of you have been bushcrafting for longer than I expected. 77.78% of respondents have been doing it 5+ years.

I may have to do another survey or two to refine some of the points that came out of this first survey. Thank you everyone who contributed. Lots of really interesting answers. I will write up the results and publish the data shortly.

If you're doing a further survey you could put an option for 50 years plus, not 5! It might have acquired the name of bushcraft but there are a fair number of us who recognise the name as an extension of the sort of outdoor stuff we have done for a very long time. I think it's great that the bushcraft movement has brought so many people into the wild again.

It might be worth asking about specialised first aid courses, for example I did an expedition medicine course 'way back when I was off sailing on a long distance yacht race, and more recently have done courses on caving and diving emergency stuff. Also, whether people have updated their first aid training.
