been busy making stuff as usual ,i recently did a good trade with a forum member,he supplied a few lovely scandi carbon blades and in return i get to handle one of the stick tangs for him,i wanted this knife to be my best, the chap is one serious bushy type and knows his beans ,in fact owns at least one antique genuine sami knife that i know of. So i decided to make a handle that would incorporate scrimshaw (will be doing my tute on this knife)and would be a bone or antler inset in burl oak,i envisage about another 5 hours work to finish the knife,so far this is the result:

after hours of sanding down to very fine i added 6 coats of cyamin glue to both stabilize and add a very tough shell, then this was sanded flat and polished by hand with autosol.Next will be the scrimshaw, and god i hope i don't bu**er it up! lol

Beautiful grain there! bet that was a right pain to get that bone lining up. Looking forward to the scrimshaw now...
