A while ago i was talking with Stuart Mitchell about knives and things.

He mentioned that he would gladly make a blade up for me but would rather keep away from the typical Woodie style blade .

So we drew a bit, and sketched a bit and came up with a mixture of a design.

Stuart said he could do something with it and this is the result.

It is clothed in high grade York gum burl, with 4, 4 mm mosaic pins and a 5 mm thong tube.

The blade is made from 5 mm 01 that has been tapered along the tang, i don't remember what the grind is though, i taped it up as it bit me when i tested the edge (..... yeah ok with my thumb in a moment of iwonderhowsharphegetshisbladesitis)

At the moment it is at 320 grit finish and has not been oiled. There a a few papers to go before the oiling stage. It has white vulcan fibre liners and a deep pouch sheath ( thanks tiffers for the template the rest is my own work)

The sheath is just finished drying so obviously this has a fair amount of work before it is ready. I hope to get this done over the next few days.

Stuart and i have already decided on some other designs as well ( if the postal service ever deliver them) so we are going to be showing a few colaborations off in the not too distant future.

Stuart was in constant contact throughout the making process, with regulat pics for me to comment and make adjustment.

very nice! :)
I suppose the acute point at the end should make it good for woodcarving?
And just out of curiosity, how comfortable is the handle? I've always felt that I get a sturdier grip if there's some kind of pommel, even if it's just carved in...
But very nice anyway! :D

The handle is actually the best part or 5 " or more long mate.

I find it sits well im my hand.

I am not a fan of the woodlore style fish tail palm swell that many or todays knives come with. I like for the kife to have a bit of meat to hold onto so this knife is quite chunky. the front transition is about 6 mm thick and the back 8, across the middle was roughly 10 mm each side( all measurements are each side).

these measurements are before the rounding process but non the less it sits well.
