Looks very similar to this one - http://www.dealextreme.com/p/x2000-flood-to-throw-zooming-glass-lens-cree-p4-led-flashlight-3-aaa-13732 - but if its rated at 5W, then the emitter has to be a lot better than a P4. I assume the 3xAA is a typo.

I've seen them on Ebay a couple of time with bike brackets for cycle lights, this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CREE-Q5-240-lumen-LED-BICYCLE-BIKE-HEADLIGHT-MOUNT-/130602802679?pt=UK_SportsLeisure_Cycling_Bike_Lights&hash=item1e68889df7 seems exactly the same (5W?) but cheaper.

5W for a tenner - tempting!

I've got two of these for my bike. I have an extra ring for fitting the slightly longer 18650 li-ion rechargable battery, which doesn't appear to be included with these ones. 3 x AA is a typo, should be 3 x AAA and they fit into a nifty little cartridge insert. Element is a Cree Q5.

High quality build and so far completely weatherproof. Highly recommended torch.

Picked up one of the Aldi torches this morning... nice bit of kit and it'll come in handy when I take the dogs for a walk in the evening.

Thanks for the heads up Gsfgaz :)

I have just went and got one of these, First impression they are OK. I have a ledlenser L7 that I bought a while ago and I must say that the cheap torch outshines my £35 torch wish I had seen these before hand. Can you ever have to much back up ? I'm unsure so I tell myself.

At the risk of upsetting the torch geeks amongst us, you have to wonder why the Fenix/LEDlenser/etc torches seem to cost so much when it would appear this torch shares most of their features for about a fifth of the price.

I'm off to Aldi...

Mine arrived this morning (£7.90 delivered from eBay) - seems fairly bright but difficult to tell in the daytime. I like the way you can focus it (to a square somehow) very quickly
