It looks like a very early example, are you sure it's a Tilley? I've never seen a fount that shape before. Are there any markings on it?

Its an early Tilley Model X246 produced IIRC from the mid 40's to around 1950, yours has a damaged globe cage.

yes, thats it.

It has `Tilley` on the knob but the other label has worn off.

not bad for £5

(obviously I wouldnt buy it at that price if it was another brand)

The nick name for these is a 'Pork Pie', from the shape of the tank I guess IIRC that is.
