So, the other day I decided that I needed to do a spot of ironing. No not the house hold chore, no, I wanted to find some Iron Pyrites to build a fire lighting kit with.

I had some intel from a local bush crafter of where I could find some on a beach, park here, walk that way for 1km, and look to your left...

Hah! His directions were wrong. Park here, walk out the carpark, look down. Straight in front of me, was a small smattering of iron pyrites. Ah well, it's a nice day, lets go for a walk.

I made it 500m. Why did I turn back? My bag was too full... Seems I found a lovely little store of natural occurring iron.

Now I just need to work out how to use them for fire lighting...

They give VERY dull (cool) sparks Julia (get a flatish edge and strike on a flint shard). I really struggled to get it to catch - only ever succeeded on amadou or char cloth (which is wrong period I think)
