its a work in progress and will take a while i think.the horn was a gift from a pal in Scotland,he slaughtered his highland bull kept one horn for his own use and i got this one ,the brass end is hollow and needs a bung i will use the tip i cut off for that,the brass end was the tube off an old pair of fire bellows that had long since died a death .Top half will be sanded smooth ready for scrimshaw work and an oak cap needs to be made .then a leather strap attached.

did some more today ,its all polished nice plug made and now its scrimshaw time! i chose a George III crest:

the scrimshaw is completed so now i will be making the lid,i was gonna use oak but i now want to find a walnut burl,inset will be a George III silver shilling that i found whilst metal detecting a couple of years ago.The plug has been made from the tip of he horn that i cut off and has polished up well.

Thats reaaly good.

I have a cows horn but as yet have done nothing to it...I so busy on other things.

And Im not at all organised, I have so much to do it does my head in.
