It was fun to watch but i've never seen such a heavily staged piece of survival tv since i watched Bear Grylls use a bow drill to make fire

I know exactly what you mean, by the looks of it i think the show was aim at the kids for educational purposes.

That's the way of tv and still is these days, I was speaking to a modern day outdoor specialist who has done a fair bit of tv work and he said that every shot is done over and over again until they are happy with the take, one specific piece he done was just a simple river crossing and he spent over 4 hours in the water in freezing conditions before they were happy, the birch bark canoe in that vid was a beauty it would have been great if they had just shot their whole show watching that process instead of staging the bear stealing the fish drama, the killing the bear with the deadfall was a strange piece too
