A leather question

a quick question.. do you think 2.2mm leather would be to think for sheaf making? what thickness would you recomend?
also whats the differnce between bridal and tooling leather?

If it's veg tanned leather then you might be able to make sheaths from it but I personally wouldn't use anything thinner than 3.5mm.

Tooling leather is great for carving/decoration/casing

4mm will be fine.

You can use a number of thicknesses for sheaths, but generally 3.5mm or 4mm for a standard woodlore type bushcraft knife is fine.

4mm veg tanned is fine, 4.5mm is better still, in my opinion but it always depends on what you intend to make.
