I have just finished this knife from a kit for my mate. He had the kit bought for him by his kids with the intention he would make his second knife better than his first. I was told I could make it how I wanted so I did.

I got the materials after had started with the handle block cut into 3 pieces with one at an angle but the agles the pieces didnt match.
Here is what I achieved from one of these kits with some material of my own.
I have used red fibre spacers and the wide right angle stripe is birch bark I used haltanned leather which I wet formed to make the sheath as I did not want to used the leather that came with the kit. The handle is finished with danish oil and teh rough part of teh antler was filled with superglue

The belt loop is attached by friction (yes that means no stitching on the D ring holder)

As usual all comments are welcome (that includes I do not like that)

I really like that Alf, you've done a really good job, the sheath looks spot on.
All the best.

Glad you like it Simon thanks for the comments,
I like the sheath but will make the next one better I think still learning.

You would not think that such a nice knife was possible from a simple kit Very good workmanship.
How have you finished the sheath? That is a very nice shine.

I dont like the fact the table has some of its bindings missing

I dont like the leaf on the table

I dont like the Grass poking through the bamboo screen

........................ What where we looking at again

........................................................................................ Oh yes great knife!:ban:

The results require some extra bits like different leather for the sheath and the shine created by tooling the leather. The leather is half tanned leather

That a bit mean about the table :lmao:
