The spine of the A.Wright knife doesn't need filing to use with a firesteel (I checked yesterday)
The handle is a more simple shape then the woodlore but is less square then some of the knives I've seen. I'll try and sort some pics out today.

I like a minimal ricasso, 5mm at most just to protect the handle from rubbing on the whetstone.

I saw Andy's knife on Saturday. It felt a lot better than the one I held in a Sheffield shop a few months ago, more rounded handle. The ricasso is too long though and the bevels were too convex and obtuse to hold a good edge for wood working. The sheath held the knife firmly and good for the price.

I think if Andy could get A Wright to address the minor issues above, they would have a very good affordable knife like the Wilkinson woodlores.

Bit of late post on this thread, but, i bought myself one of these as a user, got it from JLS wednesbury http://www.jls-wednesbury.org/id52.html.

I find the knife a delight to use, not too heavy, sits very comfortably in my hand, and keeps a good edge, admitedly i had to do a bit of work on the grind with water stones when i first received it, but apart from that nowt, the ricasso on mine is 5mm, whereas on the Woodlore Micarta it's 9mm and the Shing i own it's 12mm.

Piccie of the three below:

I must admit though the ricasso on this one is a little excessive for my personal taste

Surely a knife is a personal thing, and what suits one won't suit another, as long as it does the job it's intended for..............................

EDIT: Forgot to add it throws a magnificent shower of sparks from the ol' spark stick as well, no filing etc required to the spine whatsoever.
