Thought I'd post some of a nice day hike today a couple of hours out of town, in the Whiteshell.
This was a nice little field of horsetail
The area is part of the Canadian Shield, which is largely granite. The trees don't have much to root into, and are easily blown down in a strong wind.
A nice view over a marsh. No doubt there would be moose there at some point
The trail crosses a beaver dam; the lodge is adjacent
One of the many logs on the dam:
And lastly, the blades for the trip: Top - Daniel Winkler bowie-style; Middle: Busse Bony Active Duty; Bottom: Ed Caffrey EBK 1 (I use it as a pocket fixed blade rather than carrying a folder).
