Howdy guys and gals, just thourght id share what i got up to this afternoon!

I headed out on the bike to a local nature reserve which was formally a land fill sight over 40 years ago and i must say isnt looking to bad now! Its got plenty of wild life and iv even done a few one nighters there. It doesnt seem to get much interest apart from the odd dog walker which is good for me! :)

As i got there it started to hail, so i chucked the poncho up and got set up..

I found this in a skip on the way down and thought i could give it a new lease of life.

I took a few cotton wool balls soaked in wax as fire starters, that work great even when wet and my own wood due to the rain/hail.

Kepis, I get on with it quite well mate. I think its a hell of a lot easier too set up than the honey stove and easy to keep stocked up with the wee dore on it. I don't really notice the weight either, seems to be around the same as my hobo stove just a lot more compact!

The flutes a pleasure to play! It's hand made from a piece of red cedar in a cord G and is relitivly easy to play as all you have to do is cover all the hole correctly and give it a blow and its in tune. (thats why I chose it ;).)Then just play around with going up and down the scales.

Once iv got a bit better ill get a video up for you guys to laf at! ;)

Looks like a really good time out and you dont have to be out all day to get your fix.
Thanks for sharing.

Looks like a great day and a nice set of pics. Nice bit of recycling too.

As a nature reserve warden though I have to say I would take a dim view of anyone lighting fires on my site, even if they did it as responsibly as you, although that is mostly because that is part of the responsibility of being a warden. Personally so long as no damage is done I wouldn't mind - wardens just have to be seen to be discouraging fires.

Im pretty chuffed with the mess kit, i picked it up from milli Mart before Christmas for 6 or 7 quid i think... Although the first time it came with what looked like a bullet hole in the bottom! lol Needles to say it wasnt to efficient so it was sent back and replaced ;)
