A few of my more recent sharps. Top one is from a Damascus Chefs knife class and that was what the student made so I can't really take credit for it. He did a great job on it. Don't ask what the wood is as I can't remember at all. Looks great though.

Cheers

Lovely work.

I assume you're forging your own Damascus steel? My only attempt was with rolled/ground stock (from Germany I think). I think I etched it too deep as the dark areas are noticeably deeper than the light areas :( Do you grind/polish the blade much after etching?

Thanks Everyone, very kind. :)
Both look great, I’m particularly liking that sgian dubh though
Thanks bud. The blades are from the same billet but one has a Yew & Walnut handle and the other is Oak whiskey barrel & Walnut.

Lovely work.

Thanks Broch.
Yes I do. 1095 & 15N20.

Yes there's a bit of work after etching. I tend to get it fairly well polished before the etch then some light clean up with a high grit ~1000 after etching. I try and do a dunk in coffee as well but never get enough time to really let this develop properly. Some folks seem to have really nailed that process though and the dark layers are black as night.
What are you etching in?

All the best
Andy

Thanks for that; I may give my knife another 'polish' then.

I used Ferrous Chloride followed by coffee. I posted my attempt here:
Andy advice would be appreciated as I'm keen to have another go :)
