I'm working my way through my lamps that need cleaning up and the next ones to get the zap bath treatment were a couple Feuerhand 275 Baby lanterns that were made when there were two Germanys...

My electrolysis setup. The charger is about 30 years old but performs admirably in its new role

Impressive results there :D
I have a couple of fancy bird feeders and garden lanterns that are in dire need of something done....either to the recycle bin or maybe I'll pester HWMBLT to have a play with your kind of set up.
Thank you for the inspiration :D

Thanks Mary

It seems simple but there was actually a lot of work rubbing down getting them prepped for paint as well as the initial treatment.

My dremel clone was a great help with a scotch bright mop attachment in cleaning them up. I must have gone through more than a dozen because the irregular shapes and surfaces just ate them up but it was a lot better than hand rubbing

This is the video I used for my setup if you need more info

Thank you :)
I don't mind the rubbing down so much these days, and Astonish paste is surprisingly effective.

goodjob, that's quite the difference, how long did the whole process take you?

Hmmm... well the lamps were in the electrolysis tub for about for about 6 or 7 hours.

After that there was was about 4 or 5 hours prep work getting them ready to be sprayed what with rubbing down, masking etc. I then probably spent a couple hours or so in total on the spraying, 2 coats of primer followed by two coats of top coat finishing with one coat of HT paint on the chimneys.

So roughly about 12 - 14 hours in total spread over about 10 - 12 days. I lost about a week due to rain stopping play otherwise it would have been spread over about 4 days in total

Here's the same lamp in three different stages, before, after wet rubbing down then drying in the oven and finished, unfortuately I didn't take a picture of it ready for spraying
