A bit of a vague one!

A couple of years ago the BBC Natural World unit filmed a wonderful 'one off' programme about an American writer / philosopher / woodsman who lived in a cabin on the upper reaches of the Mississippi. The documentary followed him through the seasons as he foraged and hunted, living with nature....he reminds me very much of H D. Thoreau.
I know this is a bit vague but did anyone see the same programme or know who I am taking about? I know I am going to kick my self when I find out who this guy is!

i think you are refering to 'Natural World: Tales of the Last River Rat' it was a great show. The man is called Kenny Salway and there was recently a book published about him and his life writen in part by him and in part by a guy who writes for field and streem.

Thanks tomtom, this is the guy. Its been driving mad for ages but its great to see there is a book. Did the Beeb ever put the 'The last of the river rats' out on vid or DVD? Cheers.

no they didnt it might be worth getting in touch with them or the production company and asking though.
