Weather was nice, SWMBO was in work, loads of jobs to do around the house - so I thought I'd pack my sack and head for the FoD.

First up I came across a feeding table - squirrel, I reckon:

Then, within 10m, another one:

Loads of fallow deer prints around (didn't get to see a deer, though):

Burgeoning birch polypore? Any guesses?

Then it was time for lunch - the Tesco £2 special - Tomato and pasta soup with potato cakes warmed on the lid of the pot while the soup cooked - magic!

Meanwhile, munched on a bit of wood sorrel:

On the way back I got the shock of my life as I thought I'd discovered the world's biggest deer:

Turned out to be the upturned root system of a fallen tree .

Unfortunately, just before the carpark (and within 100 metres of a litter bin,) I came across this:

I suppose we should be grateful that the people who do this tend not to wander too far from their car, so the mess is localised. Fair puts you off some people. :(

Otherwise, a great little wander. Might do it again tomorrow...

Looks like you had a great time!
If I'm being honest, I was fooled by your picture of the ''world's biggest deer'', thinking it actualy was a deer
