I like the look of the heat pal and leaning over without getting out of my pit to make a brew in the morning appeals to me. Is there any problems with noxious fumes given of by the meths?
Some good tips there Mark. Much appreciated.
I never had any problem. Occasionally there's a whiff of meths as you turn off the Heat Pal but nothing major. I did all my refilling of Heat Pal and Trangia bottle outside. In use the Heat Pal doesn't smell at all, and is much safer in terms of fumes than an inside fire.
In theory you can keep the Heat Pal running overnight, but I didn't because (a) I'm still not 100% comfortable with the idea of leaving a flame unattended and (b) it's pointless anyway because you're snug in the sleeping bag.
