Ive been buying alot of archery supplys from an excellent company in the states called 3RiversArchery.com.They mainly specialise in bowhunting products and I have found them to be a top company. The problem is, my orders keep getting picked on by customs and excise and I am (along with a holding fee from parcel force worldwide) being charged a bucket load of duty on each item. Therefore,I was wondering if anyone might know of a good bowhunting equipment supplier within the EU who I could order from online, that way maybe avoid some of the VAT.

Thanks all.

Small orders (I think the limit is £18) from the US are often not charged VAT.

Also, even if you are paying VAT and shipping,it is often still cheaper to buy from the US.

Second hand archery kit often appears on international ebay at good prices. In my experience used stuff is less likely to attract customs charges.

In the UK Bowsports are often fairly cheap.

Thanks Doc.The problem is I normally group together my buys to save on postage. However, the main problem with 3rivers is that they insist on covering every package in company tape and logos. Its like having a big sign on the box which says 'VAT ME' I have requested blank packaging and gift written on the shipment lable but for their own reasons they cant do this. The hunt for a good EU based outfit seems like the only option. I appreciate your input.

This is highly illegal, so its up to you but, the only thing to do is get yourself a pal in the US. Have the stuff sent to them, they re-package it and send it to you.

The best label is 'Returns' (as in warranty returns)not gift as it wont raise eyebrows with the size of the box. Another if from a company that will bend the truth on the label is 'Commercial Sample'

3rivers are good, but as you say, they are by the book. Another good US shop is Raptor Archery (not sure if they'll bend the rules for you but you can only ask).

you will still pay VAT within the EU, what you won't do is pay UK VAT (different EU mambers have different rates of VAT). The comment about US ebay is a good one, especially with the £ so string against the $ at the mo. Failing that, if you're buying a lot of kit, get a cheap flight over to the US and bring the stuff back. You may still get stopped, but a mate of mine bought a £2k guitar for $2k, didn't decare it and walked right through customs. Naughty-ish, but not that naughty. :lmao:

You could try this French site, http://www.archerie-frereloup.com
I've had a few bits and pieces off them, always been reliable, don't know if they would be any cheaper than ordering from the US though. Possibly quicker (?) and zero hassle with customs. All in French though...
