Nine years + or 3285+ days ago I bought a pair of boots of the taboo Mil-Tec brand. Squad boots was the name, I had seen reports of some Mil-Tec kit but decided to go my own route as I had not had any of the problems that others had been unlucky enough to suffer.
I know the time period is accurate because I moved from Sussex wearing the brand new boots. Today I was in the Boatyard and stood in a puddle and realised that the Boots and me are to part ways at last..

The price, £39 is accurate and I have worn the boots almost continuously, woods or Town. In the summer messing about with Boats or out on my motor scooter meant other foot ware but apart from those times the boots were worn daily.
Hundreds of woodland camps and wanders. The South Downs Way multiple times, Peddars Way and many more long treks, winter and summer.

They even kept me upright when I was learning to walk again after injury.

( Same boots- paler in the Camera flash light)
Now they are sadly on their way to Boot Hill..Because like many residents they have a hole in them..
But. At the time of purchase I thought that as there was a sale going on, I might as well buy two pairs...So welcome to the daylight after 9 years in your box...Boots number 2 ..

Clearly thr man Saxonaxe treads lightly on this earth, ...and knows a good bargain.
Perhaps you are correct, I've never really thought about it, the tread lightly I mean..:)
Just to back that up...Here are my Danner Boots that I was issued with in 1998..Only worn when the weather is really pants..

I never thought those fabric lace loops would last!
I've fished the boots out of the bin and had a look. I've always worked the laces tight from the bottom loops up, so never just tugged them tight from the top, but even so there's no critical wear to the loops. Laces are as supplied, soft round cord type.
Time line is absolutely genuine, 2018 and except when wearing scooter riding boots or trainers on the boat, they have been my everyday wear.
Maybe I was lucky and got a pair made when the Production manager was watching, hope the next pair are as good.. :)

I've heard that they are quite a well built but heavy boot ? Would you agree. ?

The Danners are certainly well built Teedee, although I did read some time ago that manufacture had been moved from the USA to the Far East, how true that is I don't know. Mine are all leather, Vibram sole and Goretex lined, I wouldn't say they were heavy, well not for their time, but I know more modern boots of similar style can be lighter

Where did you source the replacements?
The originals were in a Sale £39+ down from about £45 I seem to remember. Struggling to remember where I bought them, not on line, possibly in the Surplus shop in Hailsham, East Sussex, although I can't be sure. I bought two pairs at the same time and got change from £80. The black version was slightly dearer I recall.

Cheapest I see it £60 on eBay! All in all still reasonable if they last so long!

I suppose the fact that the same boots are still selling to the public since 2017 might be a point in their favour. Hopefully manufacturing standards haven't declined.
