Right guys, time to fess up.
I didn't think the answer would be so readily discovered, I posted the competition at 5.21 pm on the 6th. John Fenna posted his answer at 5.22 pm and was spot on. It's a folding pipe. I decided to let it run on though to get some mileage out of the post.

Hey Bravo to John! Congrats mate, that minature flask won't last you too long. Not that you're a lush or anything ... I'll just shut up now I think.

A folding pipe eh? Eric. Can I second that need to see a picture of this bizarre freak of nature? Not that I don't believe you as I was convinced it was a minature log too, but I like seeing quirky things like that.

It's a nice short smoke. Just right when out and about.

I have already received my little flask - the photo does not do it justice - and I love it!
OK it may not hold too much but I will keep it for the good stuff, not the stuff I pass around the camp fire!
I have only ever seen one other folding pipe (owned by Dr Jones on this site) and did not even know if Eric was a smoker...lucky guess eh!
It was fun watching yous poor slobs struggling with no hope of winning (gloating is something I do well ) and it felt even better as I have long admired Erics work and rarely win anything!
