" 2 Man Arctic Tent, British issue", How does the front door close, ????Help please.

With the tunnel entrance, mossy net ect. please can someone tell me how the door clodes on this tent, there are ties to hod the door open, but I have seen nothing about how to make the front door weatherproof, as once all the ties are undone the the door material just seems too flop down which does not seem a good weather proof seal. also the guy rope that comes through two holes at each end which then connects to the 2 poles at each end, would water not travel down this cord and then into the inside of the tent, in fact pour through, on a heavy downpour.
