Apart from unblocking drains that is. I bought a new and more flexible set of drain rods to make sweeping our chimney easier and found they make a good extendable apple picker but taping a cut off plastic bottle to one end of a rod and then attaching as many rods as is required to reach the topmost apples. Worked well.

Also considering using the full set for a spot of drey poking when the leaves drop...
 
And also handy for cable tying a knife too to reach that high up chicken of the woods.

Good idea with the dreys too, I'll be using that. Normally it's the first barrel for the drey and the second for the squirrel
