Minibilly - pics of my 10cm Zebra cooking system.

Got it. Hacksaw wouldn't fit the gap so I had to sand/file off the heads on the rivets. That, of course, worked a treat and now I've got a bail-less billy ready for some wire rope. B

Minibilly - pics of my 10cm Zebra cooking system.

Martyn, Any tips for removing the bail? I've just pulled out my 10cm Zebra Billy and, looking at the rivets and available spacing, can't make out the best method to remove them and/or the bail. Thanks in advance, B

    Is That A Firesteel??

Here's a place in the US that offers a massive firesteel: http://www.epcamps.com/4in_Flint.html These are half-inch diameter and a little more than 4 inches long. I've got one but find myself carrying a Light My Fire Scout model most of the time as the big firesteel is heavy and a bit of...

    Anyone flown with a trangia?

Air out your burner and fuel bottle plenty before you leave and you should have no problems. I've flown three or four times with a Trangia Mini or Swedish Army kit and haven't had any problems. You can get your denatured alcohol (meths) at most home improvement stores (Home Depot, Lowes...

    Frontier coffee

Bilko, There are actually a couple of types of camp coffee pot. One, the percolator, has a basket for your ground coffee and the coffee brews by boiling up through a small diameter tube and down through the grounds. Cowboy coffee is made in the second type of camp pot by throwing ground...

    Been a long time coming

I've been a member here for quite some time and read much more than I post. Only a year ago I was the guy that took no more than a knife into the woods thinking I had the skills to last indefinitely. Then I made it outdoors... Some of you may recognize that I write the weekly updates to...

    Ti/Nalgene set

I've noticed no flavors remaining in the cup. It's been used for coffee, tea, Ramen, and some rice now and again. Cleaning has been a breeze. Normally I just put some water in it, give it a swish or two, and all the goodies come right out. A final wipe with a towel and the whole rig is...

    Ti/Nalgene set

That's a Snowpeak 700 with a soda can stove. I used it this past weekend to make myself a cup of coffee. 1oz. of denatured alcohol is enough to bring the water to a rolling boil for a few minutes--plenty of time and heat for coffee. I can fit the fuel bottle, lighter, soda can stove...
