I'm looking to do some more carving with birch and was wondering what I could carve, I have done spoons and a kuska, but want to do something a little different, any ideas?
Also how do you finish your spoons/kuska's ready for eating/drinking with?
Its my birthday soon, and I fancy a tipi style tent.
Does anyone know where I can get one from or can recommend that style tent.
It needs to be half decent not a cheap one from argos.
look forward to your replies.

I want to have a go at making a bark container, but when i try to remove the bark from the tree, it splits or cracks. How can i prevent this from happening, or is there a technique to it all that just comes with practice.
I got hold of a tree surgeon which gave me some lime, which i am going make some cordage from but is it any good for carving, easy to work with?
what woods are easy to carve for beginners
i want to try the hand drill method of fire lighting, but im not sure what the best wood(s) to use as a beginner. Can i use the same wood for the drill and the hearth?
I know from reading survival books/bushcraft books that willow bark can be used for cordage, but is there any other uses for it?
I know that lime bark can be used as tinder is it the same for willow bark?
