    Paleolithic experimental archaeology

She should contact some anthropology departments at various universities. I assume she is looking for advice from people who have experience teaching primitive skills in a manner that also conveys a historic lesson. The University of Montana here in the USA has a six week long primitive skills...

    US Army MRE

I've necer eaten the British MREs, but have tried different USA MREs. The Western Rice and Beans are dry and bland. The Enchiladas are good, as are most of the pastas. The chicken noodle soup is good to. Some are good, some are not.

    All Birds Edible?

All birds are edible, in that they are all safe to eat. Some do taste terrible though. I have shot and eaten coots and mergansers and there is no amount of BBQ sauce in the world that can make them tasty.

    Yangtze river dolphins extinct.

You are very right. I don't understand why so many humans feel the need to have such big families and buy so much crap. A family here in the USA just had their 17th child. This makes me very angry.

    Oetzi

Even a 20 pound bow can do damage if the arrowhead is sharp enough. There is an article about this in this month's National Geographic, have not read it yet, but their articles are usually very good.

    Bushcraft USA

John and Geri McPherson in Kansas have written several books. I think they teach too. Kansas would not be a bad drive for someone in Dallas.

    Book advice?

I've only read one of Tom Brown's books and it's the last one as well. It was full of all sorts of stories I just find too hard to believe. However, that is not to say his instructional books are not good. But I hear Jack Kearney's Tracking: A Blueprint for learning how, is one of the best. He...

    Utah survival school getting sued

The whole idea of carrying nothing but a cup from water hole to water hole is ridiculous. You should always carry at least 2 1 liter bottles and fill them every chance you get. Whoever came up with this idea for the course is a fool.

    Bushcrafting in the US???

Shaun, I would recommend adhering to the regulations in regards to campfires. Some cases here in Arizona where people set fires knowingly in violation of the laws has resulted in thousands of acres destroyed, and if they get caught, they may face prison or stiff fines.

    Military Connections?

I buy quite a bit of military surplus because it's cheap and durable. Not to get political, but I'd rather buy surplus than support the communist Chinese, and almost all the outdoor gear here in the USA is Chinese made. Also, because I am concerned about the state of the environment, I try to...

    Bush Tucker Man

I'm an American who had never heard of the BushTucker Man until I went to Australia for a survival course last summer. A fellow participant urged me to get the two disc set and I'm glad I did. It's great! Wish I had bought the survival stories set as well.

    Which centrefire calibre?

jamie, For the size game you are talking about, the .270 or .308 would be great. My father has several .270s and I have a Ruger M77 .308 that I love. They are both popular in most places so finding reasonably priced ammo is not a problem in the USA, and I would think they are popular in NZ as...
