Yew trees and churchyards - plantlore

Thanks for that Jodie, the Yew is such a lovely tree. We have one in our local churchyard that has been carbon dated at over 1000 years old, as you can gather it is pretty big. Where it has split whilst growing it's hollow inside and a small person could easily get inside it. Boosh.

    knifes

There are plenty of cheap knives, but if you want cheap and good reliable knives then you can't go wrong with these. Frosts Mora High Carbon I actualy prefer the clipper, nice rubber non-slip handle. Clipper I'm taking it you are just after a general bushcraft knife? Boosh.

I'm looking forward to trying this too, as are my girls who are constantly asking when they can go and tap a tree! Got myself a scotch eyed auger the other day off ebay for £2.50, a bargain i think by the looks of the other prices on tool sites. I'm eager to learn the correct...

What gift can i make for my girlfriend?

Can anyone recommend a nice little project that would be a nice sentimental gift to give to a partner? During all the usual hype and over-spending that certain times of the year brings (xmas and the likes), we have often done a £5 or £10 challenge where we have'nt been able to spend over this...

    Uprooted tree as a shelter.

So what we are saying then is stay away from uprooted trees that are still attatched to the rootball, yes? Thats understandable now you mention it, i think most people would be surprised ath the amount of roots under your average tree in the woods. As i said before, we have loads round...

    Uprooted tree as a shelter.

Interesting subject this, we have tons of uprooted trees around here in the woods and never heard of them snapping back. How does a tree "snap back" up again once it's uprooted? Boosh.

    Designing a bushcrafters garden?

:lmao: I actualy used to think that until i got my own garden! Now i've even got my own gardening gloves! :D Just to clarify, the pic in my above post is the fire pit i PLAN to build in the future, not the one i have now. I've just got a load of bricks loosely stacked in a circle for the...

    Advice on pine cones please.

Thanks for the replies, in fairness i was using closed ones that probably were'nt bone dry. Could'nt find any dry ones but i thought the heat from the fire would dry them out quick enough. No matter, we can but persevere! Thanks again, Boosh.

    Advice on pine cones please.

I've never used pine cones before so last night i thought i'd try a couple on the fire. Now i obviously did something wrong as before i knew it they were popping and spitting all over the place like little firecrackers going off! How do you use them properly please? Thanks...
